This painting ‘Blue Star’ began with the question of a man who had received advice from his guide, his guardian angel, to call me. Shortly before, something had happened to him that had frightened him and his family.

Learning Moment for a Medium

He was a truck driver, and during long drives, he listened to a program on the radio that guided the listener to make contact with the invisible world. He followed the instructions while driving and indeed made contact with a voice that told him what would happen on the road ahead, for example, the merging of a certain type of car. That was exactly right. Because of this, he thought that the voice he could ‘hear’ was pure and had good intentions for him.

The voice told him that he was destined for ‘great deeds’, but only if he did exactly what this voice commanded him.

He was indeed mediumistic, but apparently, he still had something to learn. Because he tried to make contact with the Spirits himself, he opened himself up to anyone who wanted to ‘come in’ to him. Perhaps a bit of ego played a role when that unknown voice informed him that he would become important, with all the consequences that entailed. Having learned from damage and disgrace, he realized his mistake.

Not he, but his own loving guide determines the moment when contact is made. Someone destined to become a medium will surely become one. A good medium who works from unconditional Love for people does not become that by following a course here on Earth. As I have understood from the books of medium Loes van Loon, many incarnations precede this, during which more and more aspects of mediumship are trained and endlessly practiced. Just the very first reception of a signal from her guide, many incarnations ago, took years. Such training has a higher purpose, and when the time is right, contact will come. It does not need to be forced.

What he experienced after he began to carry out the assignments is not for me to tell here, but it went far, very far. Eventually, it went so far that he was incredibly shocked by what he had gotten himself into.

Only when he realized did he discover that his true loving guardian angel had never left him, but had been sidelined by himself because he had a free choice, a free will. Our guides respect Free Choice, but he chose to listen to… a voice.

Richer from a nasty experience, he was finally able to listen to his Heart, from where his true guide could reach him. His life changed, and his gifts as a clairvoyant now enable him to help other people, with Love being the binding force.

One day, not long after his terrible experiences, his true guardian angel suggested that he contact me, saying that I only needed a piece of paper with his name on it and that one day I would be able to create a painting for him. When he told me this, at a moment when I had just realized that I too received inspiration from the Spirits when I painted from Love, I thought, “Yes, that’s nice to say, but… how am I going to make this happen?”

But I accepted the assignment with the thought: we’ll see what happens. A few months later, I indeed made a painting for him…

A Nasty Event Can Open the Heart

Something strange happened while making this painting.

I had just painted the blue vertical veils of the background when suddenly a large white drop of ink paint splattered from the reservoir of my airbrush onto the painting. That was a disaster in my eyes because it ruined everything. Many hours of work to slowly build up the colors, and now this happened!

Starting over was my first conclusion. Restoring the background was almost impossible. You would always see that. I hate it when something like that happens, especially since I constantly try to prevent it.

After a while, when I had gathered myself again, I began to consider what my options were. Should I try to restore it? Start over? Return the assignment?

Then I realized that I hadn’t thought of one thing. I could make use of this large white splatter. That felt right to do, and so I transformed the ugly spot into a large bright star or comet. Of course, I thought that this comet needed to come from somewhere, so I gave it a long tail. But strangely enough, I let this comet curve.

Now I suddenly got going. I imagined that the star touched a Heart, and from that Heart, a waterfall of light and color flowed.

This painting tells how a very unpleasant experience or event can be transformed into a Lesson in Love. I hadn’t even realized it myself right away, but while I was working, I began to realize that the drop of ink simply ‘had’ to fall. That was exactly the intention!

The heart you see is struck and torn open by an accident, a falling star. But now that the Heart is open, it can show all the colors of the rainbow that were trapped inside.

You could say that the unpleasant experience of the splatter falling on the painting led to the insight that even an unpleasant experience (an accident, illness, loss, whatever trauma) might be part of the path that helps you get to where you want to go. It just depends on how you deal with it. What do you choose? You can take on the role of a victim, but you can also use the experience. Then you choose the future. You transform the accident, your wrong decision in the past, the unpleasant experience into something positive.

When the man came to pick up the painting a few days later and sat on the couch at our home with his back to the painting, telling his story, he described that during the night he realized his mistake, he had seen something very strange shortly before… A bright star or light had passed by his window twice. That was something that normally shouldn’t happen, but that was exactly what he had observed. The gesture he made to describe the path of the star was exactly the path of the star I had painted!

He had gone through a very unpleasant experience, and he had made the most of it. Apparently, I also had to go through an unpleasant experience to be able to hand him the right painting that told his story.
